AmeriColor

I wanted to share what I discovered with the AmeriColor gel paste food coloring. Today I decided to experiment with the “chubby candy corn” cookie cutter. I made the apple spice recipe and made the Royal icing with the caramel extract, as Mike suggested. I ordered 10+ of the AmeriColor on my last order. I still had left over gel food color from last year, (that I purchased it at Hobby Lobby) so I thought I would use it up before I tried the Americolor. I ended up using 14 drops of the old yellow color, before I gave up and added just 2 drops of the AmeriColor egg yellow. What a difference!!! The first thing I noticed in a side by side comparison was that the AmeriColor is thicker. It also was absorbed into the icing with less effort on my part. There weren’t any streaks either. I then had to make the Orange color. 4 Drops of AmeriColor egg yellow and 3 drops of super red resulted in the perfect orange. I will only be using what Mike recommends from now on. He saves me from suffering. The AmeriColor combined with his tutorials guarantee that my cookies will turn out so good that I’m happy and proud to give them as gifts to family and friends.
